Riley Matthews is bored. Her life is going along, no noticeable problems, but she feels like a stranger watching it happen. She decides to take her best friend up on the offer to go out and "shake things up a bit" for a night like they used to and by mistake she meets a very intriguing and handsome man named Taylor. There is an instant attraction which leaves Riley feeling keyed up and breathless.
Unfortunately she's a stone's throw away from being engaged to her loving boyfriend Tony and Taylor is married with a child. These realizations certainly bring the budding romance to a screeching halt - for the night anyway.
Riley finds herself drawn into the strange world of dangerous obsession, missing children, and stalkers as Taylor becomes more involved in her life. She begins to alienate the people she loves and can't even figure out why herself. Upon serious introspection she realizes that she must deal with the problems of her past before she can be a good friend, girlfriend, or wife to anybody.
Events begin to spiral out of control putting Riley's life, and all those she cares for, in grave danger. Determined not to panic, Riley takes matters into her own hands and the only question is - will she get out of this alive?

Gottlieb-Fitzgerald has created a likeable character in Riley Matthews, one that readers will hope to see again in a continuation of the story. The mystery is basic but engaging with a few twists even a mystery-lover will appreciate.
It's a quick read, perfect for an evening of relaxation tinged with a bit of thrill. For book clubs it would make for a stress-free month as I'm sure not one member would have a problem getting the book read on time. There is room for good discussion over familial ties and the role they play in our lives.
Seems as if the author has set herself up for a good series, with Riley starring as the main character and hopefully a few cameos from some other familiar names.
