Martha is the type of woman who has spent her whole life letting other people, mostly men, tell her what to do. She relied on her husband, and once he was gone, her son to provide her happiness.
For some time she's been feeling that there is more to life than what she knows but it's not until a chance encounter with a card reader one spring afternoon that Martha realizes it's time for things to change.
A series of unexplainable events begin in Martha's life during which she learns she has an immense, untapped talent just waiting for her to begin channeling. From transporting to a mysterious jungle, obtaining a magical amulet, and learning how to fly - Martha's life changes in a way that will become permanent.
Throw in a little intrigue and suspense and this "path to transformation" is as adventurous for its readers as it is the characters!

Dance of the Jaguar is an interesting book. I wasn't sure what to expect at first since the subtitle reads "the path to transformation" and I'm ' not a fan of the self-help genre.
I was delighted to find that Terry Andrews' book is nothing of the sort, but rather, the story of one woman's mystical experience which helps her to realize her full potential in life. There are definitely a few unlikely events that occur but even a skeptical person will enjoy the adventurous spirit with which Martha confronts each experience.
The real gem in the story is Martha's total willingness to accept things that the everyday person would absolutely disbelieve. That quality alone sets her apart from the "normal" world and that is why it doesn't seem so impossible that something like this could happen to someone like her.
Martha teaches us to believe in ourselves and take a risk now and then in the pursuit of happiness. Perhaps this is self-help after all, in the form of a delightful tale!
