Book Rating Scale

Why do we need a book rating scale?

Because all books speak to different people in different ways.

The message I took with me from reading The Lovely Bones about everyone creating their own heaven after death, may be way different than the message you took with you about having to learn to let your loved ones go when they are cruelly taken from you.

That said, we can still come up with a universal scale to rate books. The 5-crown scale will rate each book based on how GOOD OF A READ the book is overall.

Look for the book's crown rating on each individual review page!

The Queenie's Scale
The Big Whatev
1 Crown
The Big Whatev is a term we coined to describe a book we just really couldn't get into no matter how hard we tried.

It Was Okay
2 Crowns
It Was Okay means exactly what it says - the book was only okay, nothing very special about it.

A Good Read
3 Crowns
A Good Read is a book that we enjoyed reading. We won't put it on our personal top 5 list but we'd recommend it in the right situation.

Almost Fabulous
4 Crowns
Almost Fabulous means we really liked this book for many reasons and it came close to receiving 5 crowns, but fell a little short.

Fabulous!
5 Crowns
Fabulous! is Fabulous! We loved it!

A discussion rating is equally as important - but not the same thing!
