Jennifer Chance has spent the last six months of her life wondering if she is following the path meant for her or if she is being bogged down in a corporate world and job she doesn't truly believe in.
Frank Revere has spent his last five years recuperating both physically and mentally from the car wreck that took the life of his true love and almost his own. He is also battling with demons from his past, specifically his training as a spy.
When these two meet there is an instant spark they cannot deny. A chance for Jennifer to realize who she really is and for Frank to reclaim the life he's lost.
Unfortunately, some very powerful and very scary men with extensive government training are setting about on a mission to "rule the world." The goal, according to Ulrich Rogers - the man in charge, is World Peace. However, the goal, according to Walter Jones - Rogers' second in command and as lethal as they come, is World Domination. At any cost.
From stolen identities to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," this book will keep you on edge and as the death toll in the US rises, we can only wonder - could this someday be our own fate?

Every now and then a book comes along that I have a hard time rating. Deadly Exchange has been one of those books for me. In my mind and from the questions, thoughts, and feelings it evoked in me - it deserves the four I've given it. I can guess there are some readers who may find it too complex which could result in a rating of a three from some.
Now let's be clear. I think this is a fantastic book! This is quite possibly the first time I've read a love story intricately entangled with a devious, take-over-the-world story. Gluckman does an excellent job of keeping the momentum for both major plot points going throughout the entire book!
I usually am a character-driven reader but for once the story itself was what kept me turning the pages. This was probably for two reasons. One is that there were a large number of characters in and out of the story which makes it hard to focus on any one. More likely is the second reason. The idea of a plot to take over the world using mind control, while as far-fetched as it sounds, was made very real by the author. It really got me thinking - there is so much that goes on in the intelligence world that our government lets us know nothing about. For all intents and purposes, we really are just a clueless band of humans walking around on a planet controlled by a few. It also brings up the question of governments and how much or how little they are truly formed to serve their people.
Learned an interesting fact: "the IRS exists as an illegal corporation originally designed to collect money during World War II, and was never dismantled" (228). Gluckman certainly did his research and it's obvious that his experience in the field helped him to write a realistic account of what it's like to be involved in undercover government procedures. Again I say - Scary.
