Kiki Lowenstein is no stranger to murder. Her husband was taken from her and Anya, their daughter, by a madman who is still on the loose. Luckily for Kiki, she's had the support of her friends at TinaB, the scrapbook store where she works, to get her through. Combined with a rich and somewhat charitable mother-in-law, Kiki has been able to move on with her life.
But the balance she's created is severely threatened when fellow cropper, Yvonne Gaynor, is murdered by an Orange Scone eaten at a large crop hosted by Kiki's store. Suddenly, everybody is a suspect and nobody is safe. Kiki's "sort-of" boyfriend, Detective Detweiler takes the case and does everything in his power to keep Kiki, Anya, and TinaB safe. Unfortunately, their budding relationship is another area of Kiki's life that is not going as planned.
When threatening events reach a crescendo, Kiki wonders if she'll be able to hold it together, or more importantly, keep herself alive long enough to help solve the case!

Cup, Crop & Die is a fun read! Sure it's a little strange to consider a murder mystery fun, but Joanna's characters and situations are so exaggerated that it's hard to take them seriously. But I mean this in a good way!
If you are a cropper, or scrapper as my friends call it, this is a must-read. Between many of the chapters is a creative tip from Kiki for adding flair to your scrapbooks. This gives the story a realistic feel because you feel as if Kiki is taking time out of explaining the events as they happened to share a quick tip. A brilliant idea by the author - readers really get to know Kiki and identify with her while also wondering if she's going to live til the end of the book!
There were a fair amount of twists and turns as the story unfolded, things even the seasoned mystery reader may not pick up on right away. I would love to say more about Detective Detweiler but I won't ruin it for you...
If you have a book club with any croppers, Cut, Crop & Die would be great fun! If you are a cropper yourself, you'll positively smile as you pick up on small, "in the know" references such as Mrs. Grossman's stickers. I'm looking forward to using the Snapfish coupon in the back (who can beat 50 free prints?!) and I'm excited for Kiki's next debacle!

- Do you think Kiki should get another job to support herself and Anya since TinaB is not enough?
- Is Shelia interested in Kiki's life only because of Anya or does she have sentimental feelings for her daughter-in-law?
- Would you consider scrapbooking a hobby for these women or their life?
