Book Club Choices: Finding Grace

"But to love and accept someone regardless of their flaws and failures is a breath of hope in a harsh, finger-wagging world. That is an undeserved gift, which is life itself. That's grace."

As a child, you dream about what your life will be like when you are older. You design your home, your career, your wedding day (or lack thereof) and believe that you are destined to lead this perfect life that you have planned. That is the innocence of childhood and at any moment it can all change. For some, your life plan can change while in college when we have the opportunity to pick a different career goal. For others, divorce can break the perfect life mold we have created for ourselves. For Donna, she didn't have the chance to get that far before her dreams went up in smoke.

As a young child, she was molested and her faith in life and her dreams faded away. Even though this horrific event took place, Donna moved on with her life. She went to school, worked, met a man and married him but continued to live with the pain and guilt in the back of her mind. There were many other setbacks for Donna and she made it through them all with God's help.

Book Club Choices: Finding Grace Opinion

Donna's memoir was a wonderful book to read. It provided encouragement to keep moving forward over the bumps in life's road. We have a plan for ourselves that we believe is best for us, but God's plan may be entirely different. By reading about Donna's struggles and triumphs, a peace came over me and I knew that everything would work out for the best with just a little bit of faith.

This book would make for an amazing, encouraging, soul-searching, book club pick. There are so many areas for discussion that your book club may be talking for hours. When life gives you lemons, look for the grace to make the lemonade sweeter!
