Ryan Murphy is the baby of her family and she doesn't liked being treated like it. As a DA with her career on the fast track to success, she figures it's time her father, police captain, and brothers start to take her seriously. If they can't handle the fact that she's a grown woman with a healthy sexual appetite, well, that's their problem.
What Ryan doesn't bargain for is a crazed serial killer hot on her tail, seemingly striking down victims for her benefit. Add to the mix a heating romance with the gorgeous, and totally out-of-her-league cop, and Ryan's life has become insanely crazy.
The question that occupies the minds of everyone is who will get the girl - the love of her life or the person hoping for her death?

Intriguing mystery. I liked the New Orleans flair present in the character's speech, food, and habits (think "mama," shrimp poboys, and nights full of tequila). This eclectic city of art is also home to drug dealers and addicts, prostitutes and rapists, and police, attorneys, and murderers. The lines blue between many of these distinctions in a very realistic plot.
I spent half the novel thinking I didn't like Ryan at all, and the other half wishing she were my best friend. She is definitely sassy, bristly, full of herself, and a little spoiled. But she also has a heart of gold, loves her family fiercely, and is really just a woman looking for a good man to love her. She is the perfect female heroine - we can relate to her on so many emotional levels, and want to be her for all the dramatics and excitement her life has that ours doesn't.
I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series!

- Do you believe that children are sentenced to an unhappy future if their childhood was bad?
- Is Ryan's promiscuous behavior a result of an underlying self-esteem issue?
