The Ghost at the Table by Suzanne Berne
by Marion Miller
(Atlantic Beach, NY)
A great discussion about families was inspired by this book, especially at holiday times.
The main question - is it better to try to mend old wounds or should we just let it go on?

This is a great question Marion! I haven't read The Ghost at the Table yet but am intrigued just from reading your blurb. Can you give it a book rating for us? And if you think other book clubs may enjoy reading it, write up a reader review to share!
In response to your question with a general opinion, I'm going to say that it's totally situational. The holidays make everyone sentimental but if you are estranged from your family than it's probably for some valid reason. That said, the holiday reminding us that family is important and maybe we should work harder to resolve our differences is a positive thing. Both hurt parties have to be willing to forgive the other in order for any peace to be made. Another book that sparked a similar discussion in our real time book club was Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz.
Great question and we'd love to hear more from you and your club on this subject!
