Summary: Emily Cooper loses her Dad and her Mom is gone visiting her daughter. Emily is left to run the farm by herself. Her Mom sends in an auditor to check where the farm stands.
Franklin Reese cannot locate papers, tax returns, etc. and it takes quite awhile to find what all is needed. When he spends so much time at the farm, he finds himself being drawn to Emily Cooper and vice-versa. What he finds is not good news and it is hard for him to Emily how much was not reported and what they owe the IRS. Franklin has a drinking problem due to his wife's death. He has problems acknowledging it but with Emily's advice seeks out help. Then his Dad dies and he has to go back home.
Emily loves farming and does not want to lose her farm.
I would tell more but if I did, it would give away the suspense of finding out for yourself.
Opinion: This book will teach you all about salvation as if you were walking the road with the characters. You will find yourself hoping Franklin finds Christ. Also you will feel for Emily. A book of faith that uplifts and encourages you as you read.
I was dealing with loss of power during the time I was reading this and it helped keep my faith focused.
