"You put your whole self in" is the motto that Meg Clark and her son, Henry, live each day by. It's just the two them since Henry's father split before he was even born. So far they've managed to take care of each other just fine, as long as Meg keeps up her strict "we don't date" policy.
Then one Saturday they meet Ahmed at LuLu's Cafe during their regular coffee and chess ritual. Ahmed is polite, smart, kind, totally focused on Henry, and gorgeous. Meg can't stop herself from making googly eyes at him!
So begins their passionate, love-of-a-lifetime affair. With the hurdles of her parent's pending divorce, a very unhappy sister, and an ex who might just try and come back for good, Meg and Ahmed's relationship has much to survive. Meg keeps coming back around to the question of "is he worth it?" And she knows the answer is yes.

What a heartwarming, inspiring tale of love Laura Fitzgerald has written! Meg and Ahmed are made for each other and it's obvious from the moment they meet. Even if you don't believe in love at first site, soulmates, or destiny, you'll definitely get the feeling that there is something deeper at work here than just your typical romance.
Maybe it's Henry that adds a special flair to the story. This little precocious man will steal your heart away and never give it back! Whether he's calling his biological father to find out what his mom needs to do to be a better wife, or sneaking off to explain to the dad he wants that his mom is the woman he should choose to marry, Henry is amazing!
Even the secondary characters like Clarabelle and Phillip are wonderfully quirky and wonderfully human. There isn't a person in this story who you'll want to leave behind, even after the pages stop turning.
A great book club read!
