Wyatt's Revenge by H. Terrell Griffin

"And sometimes, when there is great danger, you form the bonds that soldiers know, ones that last a lifetime...and when you need help...the clan gathers."

Matt Royal's best friend, Wyatt, is brutally murdered during his morning coffee one October morning. The police can't get a lead on any suspects, but now-retired trial lawyer Matt does a little poking and is able to get a line on who might have done the deed.

Thus begins a quest that will take Matt from his hometown of Longboat Key, Florida to the far reaches of Paris and Germany. Once he begins figuring out the people responsible for Wyatt's death, he also begins to learn that the motive goes much deeper than he originally anticipated.

As he travels the globe, he must call in the services of his oldest and dearest friends, the kind he can trust with his secrets and his life. An evil mystery unravels, casting light on the end of WWII and the Nazi escapees from Germany. Have Matt and co. gotten themselves in too deep or will they be able to avenge Wyatt's death before they become part of the toll?

Book Club Picks: Wyatt's Revenge Opinion

Fantastic book! I was hooked from page one!

What an interesting story. Not only is it deeply infused with Nazi Germany history, as well as other WWII events, it takes the idea of a vigilante killer to a whole new level. In this case, the vigilante is none other than the hero of the book, Matt Royal. His motives are pure - he wants revenge for the horrific and uncalled for murder of his best friend. But the question on my mind the whole time was this - is he any better than the men he sets out to destroy? He trades their lives for Wyatt's, and does so with little remorse. The unease he feels comes as a result of wondering whether or not it matters to him that he's killed men in cold blood.

A male author is always an interesting choice for book clubs (unless of course it's Nicholas Sparks) because many women will not be able to relate to the story or the characters. However, most people love a fast-paced action-drama which is exactly what Wyatt's Revenge provides. The possibilities for discussion relating to Nazi Germany and revenge killings could potentially spark a discussion you wouldn't want to miss!

  1. Is Matt a good guy? Why or why not?
  2. Do you believe corruption goes all the way up to the top of our government?
  3. Was Wyatt's death properly avenged?
