Deidre McIntosh's life seems to have all fallen in place. She finally owns her own home, she's got a line of designer cookies coming out, and a boyfriend who is not only handsome and kind, but filthy rich. If her friends didn't know her better, they might be jealous!
One fateful morning, Deidre's good luck starts to head south. The owner of JCC, the company backing her cookie line, informs her that her product is too expensive and too lavish. JCC wants a "down-home" feel for a cheap price. This news sends Deidre into a frenzy, as she knows she can't possibly do what JCC asks and still keep the integrity of her cookie line.
This unfortunate situation is the beginning of a string of events which will change Deidre's path to bliss into one of complete destruction. Not only is her job at stake, but her relationship as well. Deidre is a person with natural positivity, but can she survive all this at once?

What a fun read! I finished this book in one evening; smiling, sniffing, chuckling, gasping the whole way through. And feeling very desperate for a yummy cookie!
Mia King writes with such passion, it's easy to become a part of the story - to feel Deidre's embarrassment as her dress rips at the K Ball, to sit in on the final tasting for Sweet Deidre with Manuela, or to squirm in disgust as Petra throws up all over Mr. Peterson. And these are only a few of the outrageous things that happen to Deidre during the course of this novel!
The true pleasure of reading this book is that the main character is honestly a good girl. She's caring, thoughtful, passionate, smart, and successful. When a crisis comes her way, she figures out how to deal with it. But she also has her moments of weakness. She sometimes thinks mean thoughts about her boyfriend's manipulative sister, and she wrecks her car on the way to a doctor's appointment because she's busy Googling. All these things combine to make Deidre the kind of character we love to love.
