Mark was born in 1957 and raised in Mallard, Iowa. He went to college at Wayne State College in Nebraska, where he earned a degree in art and a journalism minor. He has taught school in Nebraska, Florida, Minnesota, and is currently teaching art in Armstrong-Ringsted, Iowa.
Excerpt: Once upon a time there was a Pink Flamingo named Pinky. Pinky lived in the logoon with all his friends; Hoppy the Frog, George the Pelican, Mrs. Yellow the Duck, and Mr. Slow the Turtle.
One day Pinky was eating his favorite food, diatoms, when Happy the Frog hopped over to Pinky and noticed Pinky was standing on one of his long legs.
