The Apothcary's Daughter was my first FREE Kindle book. And I want my money back!
Julie Klassen's The Apothecary's Daughter is plagued, not just by a lack of substantive plot, but by poor character development, ever-shifting scenes and settings, a coincidence-dependent story progression, and an misunderstanding of the historical period in which it was set. And no, I'm not just being a romance novel snob. I enjoy a naughty-naughty scene just as much as the next over-sexualized generation X/Y-er. This book didn't really even strike me as a romance, though... Unless of course I was accidentally reading a YA novel. Which is entirely plausible, given the poor organization of the subject classification of Amazon's Kindle Books. The point is, the book made me dumber. But I read it. Cover to cover... er, rather...
