The Kept Man by Jami Attenberg

Book Club Picks: The Kept Man

"Life gives what you need."

Jarvis has been doing nothing but waiting for the past six years since her husband fell and slipped into a coma.

Jarvis lived her life after the accident as if she were a hermit up until the day her washing machine broke and forced her back out into the real world.

Book Club Picks: Kept Man Opinion

Jarvis' life was so mundane after her husband first entered into a coma that it took a simple, household appliance to launch her into the land of the living. Surrounded by the artwork of her beloved husband, Jarvis lived as if she were in a comatose state as well.

When her washing machine broke, she had no choice but to take her clothes to the Laundromat. Fate intervened and she met the Kept Men's club, a group of married men that were supported by their successful wives. As the friendships between the Kept Men and Jarvis grew, secrets about her husband's life forced her to rely on them for support.

The Kept Man is a story of friendship and decisions and the way these two things interact with each other. This book will bring about many good discussions, some may be controversial and some just hilarious!
