What to Bring to First Book Club Meeting?

by Sue
(CA)

I'm invited to join my neighborhood book club. It's just meeting tonight for the first time. I don't want to appear disinterested, so should I show up with a book in hand? Should I take anything with me.

Hope you can answer this right away. Thanks very much.

Answer

Hi Sue,
Thanks for Contacting Book Club Queen!

Hope this finds you in time for your meeting. If you've been invited to your neighborhood meeting don't worry about taking anything other than yourself and your love of reading!

I would maybe have a few book title suggestions in mind in case they ask for your input on a book to get you started.

A few great book club reads that spark a good discussion are Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah, Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus. Check out each full review for some background.

If you decide to join and your club is set up with a hosting rotation, then you'll need to contact us again for some hosting help!

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
