What to serve for "Everything Must Go" by Elizabeth Flock

I am hosting my first ever book club. We will be discussing "Everything Must Go" by Elizabeth Flock. Looking for some menu ideas, themed around the book. Any ideas??

Queenie D's Response:
This is a tough one because there isn't much emphasis on place or culture in this novel. I think, since the main theme is the mundane, ordinary life, it might be somewhat amusing to create a very "ordinary" dinner. Serve something that nobody would go out of their way to order at a restaurant - the stuff that Wednesday night dinners on the run are made of - like chicken and peas or sloppy joes. Just do it with some flavor and decorative flair so that it's still yummy!

Good luck!

Please come back and tell us how it went.

Hi there. I came across your post and wanted to let you know that I frequently speak with book clubs (via speakerphone if I'm not in the area) and would be happy to join you all for your discussion if you like. (you can contact me via my website: www.elizabethflock.com)
I will say that, while I am indeed proud of EVERYTHING MUST GO, I have found that my second novel, ME & EMMA, has generated the most book club "buzz."
I hope this isn't tacky of me to suggest that or to offer to speak with you all. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
Thank you for choosing one of my books -- I really appreciate it! I'd love to hear how it goes.
All best,
Elizabeth
